Exhibitions and workshops
Immerse yourself in a unique soundscape through our one-of-a-kind exhibitions and interactive workshops. Learn more about the secret world of trees.
Tree listening workshops provide a stimulating group experience for adults and children, using headphones and advanced acoustic technology. Listen to the movement of water as it travels from the ground to the leaves and creates fascinating popping and rumbling sounds.
This is a unique educational experience, where you can gain closer insight to the inner workings of a tree. Plus, understand more about their role in fighting climate change and supporting our ecosystems.

Permanent tree listening exhibitions
The Natural History Museum of Los Angeles is one of the largest natural and historical museums in the United States. The Tree Listening Project has a permanent installation there, where museum visitors can enjoy listening to water moving through a tree’s roots. There is also information on the science behind plant acoustics, and the environmental importance of trees.
Bring The Tree Listening Project to your venue
Hosting a tree listening workshop is an excellent way to engage your community, promote environmental education, and inspire a deeper connection with nature. Our workshops are designed to be interactive, educational, and accessible to people of all ages.
Workshops will be led by a tree listening expert, guiding participants through the activities. We also provide all of the necessary equipment, including headphones, microphones and installation.
We tailor each workshop to meet your venue’s needs and audience, however we typically offer two options:
- An activity-based workshops consisting of a 30-minute overview
- A half-day session where we explore the transpiration process in greater detail, along with other hidden and fascinating aspects of trees.
Workshops can be set up for one-off days or for longer time periods.
Previously we have provided workshops for parks, gardens, museums, agricultural shows, private events and much more. Please get in touch if you would like our support in hosting a unique and memorable experience. – hello@treelistening.co.uk
The Tree Listening Project travels in different forms:
The Temporary Tree Listening Installation: (this can be either privet or a public event) This version is accompanied by myself on a daily basis to talk to the public and explain all about the hidden moment inside the tree.
The Monthly Tree Listening Installation:
The monthly installation is self contained and can be with mains powered or solar powered, the installation plays a recording of the chosen tree via 6 x headphones.
The Permanent Tree Listening Installation:
The permanent installation can take a few diffrent forms with headphones, trumpet speakers or Sound Domes.
Please contact me further for more information.
The Tree Listening Installation is a travelling, educational tool used to facilitate a deeper understanding of ‘how trees work’.
The workshops provide a stimulating environment in which to explore the ‘hidden sounds’
behind the bark. These activity-based workshops can consist of either; a short 30 minute overview or a morning/afternoon session exploring the transpiration process in greater detail.
